About Good Trouble

Good Trouble is a player-focused & remote-first independent games studio focused based in California.

We're accountable and kind; talented and targeted. We know our abilities and always follow through. If this sounds like the kind of crew you see yourself with, and have the skillset to match, we want you to join this exciting chapter of growth at Good Trouble!

About the role

At Good Trouble, we're always building. We're looking for someone to help our games come to life with incredible in-game artwork, matched with crisp technical execution.

This is an early-stage position that will focus on supporting an in-development game with a 60/40 mix of art and technical implementation.

This is a contract role, with the possibility of converting to full-time. This role also includes a percentage of game revenue, in addition to a competitive rate.

Summary

As a Technical Artist, you'll wield both the pen and the sword (er, code). You'll both create and explore creative concepts, and you'll help get them ready for implementation in-engine. You'll work closely with the core Good Trouble team, and you'll get a ton of creative freedom and autonomy.

Founded by artists and designers, Good Trouble really values art and creativity. We don't micro-manage, and we have genuinely empathetic (and precise/constructive) feedback styles.

This role does not require a degree, but we'd definitely like to see examples of prior work.
